Two identical houses designed for two brothers, the Jariwala residence in Surat was an exciting project. All of 6000 Sq. Ft., the site was located in a densely populated area. The challenge was to develop design that overcomes the site conditions, vastu constraints and adheres to the client requirements. We conceived an inward looking structure opening onto the private garden spaces. We created a raised plinth whose ground cover served as the parking area for 4 cars each. The main entrance of the house was devised on the first floor. Thoughtful incorporation of terrace and double height spaces provided proper ventilation and ushered in ample sunlight. The lower functional spaces got more openness while the bedrooms on the upper floors housed balconies overlooking the terrace below. And finally the use of natural materials and color palette for the exterior and interior wrapped the home in a cozy warm hue.
